COPD is a very prevalent diagnosis throughout health care, and it is our job as future nurses to encapsulate all areas of care for these specific patients. Educating COPD patients on non-pharmacologic therapies, such as breathing exercises, as an adjunct to their overall treatment regimens can give a patient a sense of hope and overall control of their diagnosis. Through our paper we discuss the in-depth research studies that show the progressive effects around the holistic approach of deep-breathing exercises as an adjunct to medical care. Diving deep into the consideration of the individual’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being not just their diagnosis.
