This foundational course examines optimal adult health and its alterations. Students utilize the nursing process in supporting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Emphasis is placed on the art and science of nursing as it applies to health promotion and disease prevention. Experiential learning, including skills laboratory, simulation, and clinical and community-based settings, serves to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes inherent in the profession of nursing. Students work in collaboration with individuals, families, and communities and other members of the inter-professional team to support achievement of the highest level of client wellness.
