Since we began the steps of our EBP process it has been great to collaborate with my group and see how we have all felt throughout. We all knew we wanted to choose a topic that was relevant to our other nursing classes, taking the knowledge we have learned and put it forward through evidence-based practice. So collectively we decided on the topic of COPD and its overall treatment plans. Specifically, the use of deep breathing exercises, along with pharmacological treatments in comparison to the use of just pharmacological treatment. It is something we felt was very interesting as we dove deeper into articles and research because the importance of deep breathing has been something engraved into us as we become future nurses. So, as we began, we realized that the idea of COPD and all the aspects that surround it such as what medications, exercises, care plans, etc. would lead us to too many options. Right off the bat we were all in agreement that we were finding to many articles and research that was bringing us all over the place. So, we narrowed our PICOT questions and used specifics of what we wanted to research and discover. Overall, I think we picked a great topic and have narrowed down our exact PICOT question and know exactly where to focus going forward.
