This course examines the intentional connection of concepts explored in nursing coursework and experiential activities. Active inquiry, self-reflection, and engagement in interprofessional educational opportunities foster the ongoing development of clinical reasoning, professional nursing practice, and interprofessional relationships.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- (Interprofessionalism) Explore the application of knowledge from the humanities, interprofessional education, and natural/behavioral sciences in the provision of holistic nursing care.
- (EBP) Explore concepts of nursing theory in the planning and evaluation of care for clients.
- (Professionalism) Recognize the moral, ethical, and legal elements inherent in the formation of professional nursing values.
- (Technology & Safety) Identify the importance of shared knowledge, experience, and resources among health professionals for the provision of safe care.
- (Leadership) Identify elements of reflective practice, appreciative inquiry, and effective communication across the spectrum of health in multiple settings/client populations.
- (Self-care) Identify principles of self-care that represent values inherent in the profession of nursing.
- (Health Care Delivery) Recognize the unique contribution of self and other health professionals to the plan of care while respecting client values, priorities, and preferences.
